Searching for county death records online is not difficult if you know what easy tools to use and what specific information you need to begin. To conduct an online search for death records, you must have internet access and know how to perform a general internet search using search engines. You must also have information about the deceased and where that person died.

Internet access is obtained by subscribing to internet service through a local provider. If you do not have access from a computer at home, you can often gain inexpensive (or even free) access at a friendas house, work, or your local library. Before you begin, obtain permission for your search for county death records. Follow the same procedures if you conduct other searches, such as those for birth or marriage records.

Information regarding the deceased is the second element in your search for county death records. Prepare for your search by gathering the personas name, dates of birth and death, names of family members, information about any marriages, and any information on the personas profession. It is also important to know the name of the state and/or county in which the deceased passed away.

Having a variety of information can make your search less difficult. Often, a search will result in a collection of records for people with the same name. If you have prepared yourself with several details about the deceased, you will find it easier to locate the exact record you want.

Once you have gained access to the internet and gathered your information, you are ready to use one or more internet search engines to find specific web sites which might contain the information you are looking for. Using a search engine such as Google or Yahoo, provide some of your search terms. The search engine will return a list of web sites that contain your search terms. Search those sites for the specific record you want.

Subscription-based private web sites such as Ancestry.com can also be a good source of information, if you donat mind becoming a paid subscriber. The free information on government-sponsored or government-created web sites can be just as reliable, as government databases are often the basis of the information found on private sites. Another good source of information is newspaper obituary databases, which are based on county death records.

Conducting research on county death indexes is easy if you have the three necessary elements. These elements: internet access, plenty of information about the deceased, and a way to find those web sites that might contain the desired information, are essential to your search and your success.

Having all three elements in place before you begin your search will probably make your search for county birth, death, marriage, and/or divorce records easier. If you do not have any of the necessary elements, your search could take longer. Searching through a collection of results takes time, so be prepared the next time you conduct a search of this kind.
